U’6s & U’11s This year we managed to make an U’6s team, our first in a few years. They would travel to HopuHopu every weekend as well as our U’11s, a few of our U’11s were privileged enough to represent Waikato South U’11s. U’17s Our U’17s had an awesome season this year with a numerous amount of the boys making the U’16 & U’18 Waikato Representative teams.
A massive shoutout to Kodye Flavell and Richard Heke for coming onboard during the season to take over the coaching roles. Women Te Awamutu Sports Firehawks were privileged enough to host the Waikato Women Rugby league competition every Sunday. We had 9 teams from the Waikato region play over a 7 week period to find a place in the Grand final.
Te Awamutu Sports Firehawks were undefeated through out the season and went on to win the Honey Hireme- Smiler shied beating Turangawaewae in the Grand final. Big mihi to all volunteers who made the season a success. Men Our men had a great season this year with a couple of our U’17 boys from last year coming up to play senior footy, with one of the boys being selected to represent the Waikato U’18s. This year they were lucky enough to have Victor Heke return as head coach and he was able to share his knowledge and experience with the club.
