Hockey

Te Awamutu Sports Hockey is still going strong in the2023 season, which has just finished, with 4 men's and 4 women's teams playing in the Waikato Hockey Association competition, our Ecolab premier men's and premier women's teams also playing in the intercity competition.

Te Awamutu Sports Hockey club finished the season off with both our Ecolab Premier mens and Premier women's teams making their respective finals of the Waikato hockey association premier competition. The men came up short with 2-1 lost and the women's team, player/coached by ex Blackstick Robbie Matthews, came through with a drew 2 all at full time, which went to a shoot-out and was won by Te Awamutu.

This is the first time Te Awamutu has won the WHA premier women's competition since 2011. In the reserve division only our reserve 2 biostart women's team, coached by Sally Davies made the final of the championship and just couldn't finish the season with a win.
