Highland Pipe Band

The Te Awamutu and District Highland Pipe Band has been busy, focusing on learners, since having a break in January.  We meet regularly, on Monday evenings, and teach both pipers and drummers - the progress we are seeing is really encouraging!

While we did not compete at the National Pipe Band Competition this year, many of our members watched the proceedings closely via the livestream of the event and on YouTube.  We do perform at local craft markets, to the appreciation of the attending public, and when possible we perform at private functions, going where the demand takes us.

Coming soon is ANZAC day, where we attend both the Kawhia and the Te Awamutu RSA commemoration services, as well as supporting other ANZAC events around the Waipa district.  ANZAC is one of the most important dates on our yearly calendar, and it is an honour to be a part of it.

As we draw closer to the winter months, the band will continue the tutoring and community focus, welcoming learners both young and older, as well as encouraging any returning players to a friendly band environment.
